Peter Satterthwaite – Group Manager, Health Services and Innovation
Peter grew up in Auckland and studied medicine at Auckland University. After locuming and overseas travel he vocationally trained in General Practice and worked as a partner in a Devonport General Practice for five years.
In the early 1990s he trained in Public Health Medicine completing a Master of Public Health, Master of Business Administration and achieved fellowship in Public Health Medicine.
From 1996 to 2008 Peter worked in a range of senior management roles in New Zealand including: Manager Strategic Planning, Contracts Manager, Acting General Manager Medical Surgical at Hawke’s Bay DHB, and Chief Information Officer and Director Clinical Planning at Capital & Coast DHB.
In 2008 Peter moved to Australia where he achieved fellowship in Medical Administration and worked as Executive / Director Medical Services in Darwin, Adelaide and Melbourne. In these roles he has had responsibility for a broad range of portfolios and governance responsibilities including: Medical Workforce, Credentialing, Medical Education, Health Information, Clinical Governance, Quality & Safety, Pharmacy, Laboratory, Radiology, Fundraising, Research Governance, Clinical ICT, Consumer Experience, Medication Safety, New Technology Assessment and Infection Control.
Peter is excited to be returning to work in Primary Care and being closely involved in Primary Healthcare delivery.
