Te Ara Waiora: Open Access Clinics
As part of Kahui Waiora, five Te Ara Waiora Clinics (open access) are established. Clinics are located in Ahuriri, Maraenui, Heretaunga, Waipukurau and Wairoa.
Our newly opened Te Ara Waiora clinic is based at 198 Marine Parade, Wairoa (Old BNZ Building) that provides walk-in or mobile services to whanau. The clinic is staffed with registered nurses, whanau manaaki (administrator) and health coach. Drop in to discuss your health and wellbeing needs.
Te Ara Waiora services include:
- Health education and promotion to individuals or whānau
- Health assessment and monitoring
- Cervical screening
- Lung function assessments
- Hearing assessments
- Green Prescription referrals
- Health Coaching
- Vaccinations
Our nurse-led clinics specialise in working with whānau to understand and improve illnesses such as diabetes, COPD, asthma and eczema as well as sexual health, becoming smokefree and caring for pēpi.
Te Ara Waiora is a kaupapa Māori hauora clinic in 2 locations – Flaxmere and Central Hawke’s Bay.
Our FREE walk-in and mobile hauora clinics provide manaakitanga to everyone that walks through our doors looking for support to get on their pathway to wellbeing.
Te Ara Waiora is Nurse led with health coaches, we offer general health checks, sexual health support including contraception, support for Hapu Māmā, CVD risk assessments, cervical screening, support to breast screening, immunisations. We can treat sore throats, minor skin conditions including impetigo (school sores) scabies and treatments for headlice.

Te Ara Waiora is an open-access clinic. This means that as long as you are a NZ Citizen, you can just pop in if you need to see us, no need to enrol, no appointments required.

Social Service, Abuse and Violence Support, Community Health, Kaupapa Māori

Roopu A Iwi Trust is the mandated Iwi Social Service provider for Ahuriri, providing social work support, whānau support services, care services, youth development, caregiver support and Rongoā Māori services.
We seek to improve the health and wellbeing holistically of the whānau. Our free nurses clinic in Maraenui will be fully operational in mid September and is open to all of Ahuriri.
Registered Nurses and support workers provide clinical services, health promotion and education at community venues (eg. in whānau homes, early childhood centres, kohanga reo, schools, marae).
This work may be supported by a Kaiāwhina (support worker). Their role is to support whānau or individuals with any social issues identified as obstacles to achieving improved health and well being.
Health education, promotion and assessments are available on topics/conditions such as heart disease, asthma, strokes, cancer, diabetes, unintentional injuries and nutrition.
Free checks include blood pressure checks and blood sugar level monitoring checks with support to Breast and Cervical Screening Services, Ear, Nose and Throat and Respiratory Clinics and Stop Smoking Services.
We are currently a registered Diabetes Conversations MAPS provider where in-depth, interactive education and support is provided for those identified with long term conditions.
For whānau whose tamariki are not accessing Tamariki Ora/Well Child services, we provide support, facilitation and whānau care.
Te Kupenga Hauora – Ahuriri assists with Positive Parenting, Maternity Support, Ante/post natal depression and Home Care/Safe Environments.
The service is mobile, however Te Kupenga Hauora – Ahuriri does have a clinic on site if that is preferred. (5 Sale Street, Napier) 9am -4pm
